This course has a high level of language input and skills work that is relevant to the IELTS
test, although it does not focus directly on the format of the test. The most notable component of the course is the weighting given to writing skills – an area that does not usually receive enough attention in General English training.
Key Skills for IELTS ( 50 hours )
Entry requirements: IELTS 5 with minimum Band 5 in writing or the NC Placement Test
Key Skills covers all aspects of the IELTS test including format, anticipated topics, strategies and task analysis. The overall aim is to enable students to have a better understanding of what the test involves and to be able to cope with the material in the time-frame that the test allows. Students will be shown how to use the self-access facilities in order to upgrade their language skills further in their own time, and also to develop an awareness of their individual needs and how best to address them.
This course is useful for candidates who are not achieving their desired result in the speaking component of the test. It concentrates on areas of pronunciation that cause difficulty for Thai learners, useful language for possible topics that might come up and how to organise a coherent answer.
Speak-Write A for IELTS ( 50 hours ), Speak-Write B for IELTS ( 50 hours )
Entry requirements: completed Key Skills or IELTS 6 (Overall 6, Writing 5.5) with band 5 in writing or the NC Placement Test (Speak-Write A for IELTS )
Entry requirements: completed Key Skills or IELTS 6.5 (Overall 6.5, Writing 6) with band 6 in writing or the NC Placement Test (Speak-Write B for IELTS )
Students per class: 6-10 students
This course is composed of 80% writing and 20% speaking. Both skills focus on the strategies and techniques required for a wide variety of Task 1 and Task 2 writing questions and Part 1, 2 and particularly Part 3 speaking questions.

Essential Grammar for IELTS ( 15 hours )
This IELTS preparation course is designed for candidates requiring a band score of 6 or above in writing and speaking. It focuses on the essential and fundamental grammatical skills needed to achieve success. Importantly, to achieve a band score of 6 in both speaking and writing candidates must show the ability to use a range of simple and complex sentence structures.
Entry requirements: IELTS 5 or the NC Placement Test
This IELTS preparation course is suitable for candidates who do not have enough time for full courses. this IELTS course focuses on the strategies and exam techniques of the IELTS exam.
Other Courses
Entry requirements: completed Core Skills B or IELTS 5 with band 4.5 in writing or the NC Placement Test
Students per class: 6-8 students
While this course will help students to prepare for the IELTS Writing Test, the course is much broader in context, starting with basic sentence structures and taking into account a variety of features of writing for university study.
POS: Preparation for Overseas Studies ( 50 hours )
The Preparation for Overseas Studies course is for students who already have their desired IELTS score and are going abroad in the near future. The course covers the areas of academic conventions (layout / style/ referencing etc.) necessary in western universities and also introduces the different styles of learning that you can expect.
At the end of the course you will have to submit a written piece of work concerned with either factual or speculative data. You will also have to give an oral presentation based on the written work.
POS course students should already have achieved at least IELTS Band 5.5 or a TOEFL score of 500 or above for the paper-based test, and 200 or more for the computer-based test.
Business Communication ( 48 hours )
Entry requirement: Pre-intermediate to Intermediate level.
Each session will cover:
1. A specific business related topic – key vocabulary, reading, discussion.
2. Business related communication skills – role plays, guided and free practice, listening & writing exercises.
3. General language points – grammar, idioms, collocations, pronunciation.
