IGCSE Grading

The methods of examination are not limited to written exams but may also include coursework, oral assessment and a listening test. In some subjects, students are offered a choice between taking the Core or Extended curriculum, depending on what is appropriate for their level.

The Core curriculum in each subject is within the ability range of most students. It provides a full overview of the subject and is targeted at students who are expected to achieve grade C, D, E, F, and G.

The Extended curriculum in each subject comprises the Core curriculum and a Supplement. It targets those expected to achieve grade A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. The supplement covers extra topics in depth. These topics must be added to the Core curriculum to produce the Extended curriculum.
